Is there such a beast as nickel open back tuners with a brass gear and real ebony knobs? Could live without brass gear...

Ed: Look in the tutorial section for the Chris Paulick info on taking the regular knobs off Grover Sta-Tites and replacing them with ebony knobs.

I think the hardest part of that combination is the real ebony button. Waverly is the only tuner I know of that can be bought with a stock ebony button, but that is the high end of the price range. Second best option would probably be Gotoh's with the synthetic button.

Schertler tuners have real Ebony knobs. Rubner also have an Ebony knob option, but they mostly make classical tuners, their steel string offerings are somewhat limited.

LMII has open back tuners with a brass gear. I don't think they have an ebony knob. I have used several sets and they nice and reasonably priced.

Are they making Schertlers in nickel now? Does the post bear on an aluminum plate?
